In 2018, Launch Speech and Reading held its first edition of Books Without Borders. Over the summer, seven students ranging in age from 7-12 met twice a month with their writing coach to create their very own books. Their hard work resulted in a collection of seven phenomenal published books reflecting seven different genres. The program culminated in the Author Showcase and book signing held at Barnes and Noble West and over 50 books were sold. Through a collaboration with the United Way Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the Madison Reading Project over 120 books were donated to community organizations!
Our Summer 2019 edition of Books Without Borders begins June 1!
All students deserve to have fun while creating something they will be proud of. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Students will learn the full process of writing including planning, drafting, proofreading, and publishing. They will explore their genre of choice, whether it be fantasy & fiction, DIY & poetry, biography & memoire, adventure & mystery. Our writing coaches will ensure that no matter their skill level, participants gain a remarkable sense of accomplishment and pride.
The Author Showcase celebrates our newly published writers. There will be readings, book signings, refreshments, and more! Authors will receive a paperback copy of their book at no cost.
Students meet with their writing coach for six one-hour sessions between June 1 and August 16. Home writing is essential too! Sessions can be done individually or in groups, in person or online.
In-person sessions can be done at the Launch office on Big Sky Drive or at a community center in Madison. Sessions can also take place online for easy scheduling and require no travel.
Individual Sessions Bundle: $450 ($75 per session)
